Master Tiran Holmes started his martial art career in the mid 1980’s
studying freestyle karate in Launceston, Tasmania.
As like most, Master Holmes was captured by the hype and skills shown
in many of the martial art movies of that time. He showed a special
interest in the Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan movies which portrayed lightning
fast, powerful and effect moves.
As the years of martial training went on, Master Holmes was dissatisfied
with the direction of his martial art style. It was in 1998 when Master
Holmes fulfilled a dream to train in Hong Kong that he chanced a meeting
with the Master of the Tibetan Lama Style Martial Art, Master LO Wai-Keung.
It was after the first training session with Master LO, that Master
Holmes decided that he would make a transition to the Tibetan Lama Style.
Upon returning from Hong Kong on the first occasion, Master Holmes
trained diligently to perfect the skills of the Lama Style that Master
LO had taught. Subsequently Master Holmes continues to travel to Hong
Kong to further his skills in the art.
It was in December 2000 that Master LO made Master Holmes Vice
Chairman of the Lama Martial Art & Athletics Association which was
witnessed by many famous martial art masters from Hong Kong.
On the 12th November 2004 Master Holmes was invited to Hong Kong to
be admitted as a formal disciple of Master LO Wai-Keung. Upon which
he attended a banquet where 15-20 high-ranking martial artmasters were
present at the ceremony.
Master Holmes is now charged with passing on this martial art throughout
Australia. His passion and dedication to Tibetan Lama Style Martial
Art make him the only association recognised instructor in Australia.
